Statistics Canada is now hiring in select northern and remote communities to help support early census collection. Please refer to the list of communities included in early recruitment below.
In some communities, recruitment and collection start earlier than the rest of Canada. This allows access to areas that are easier to reach in winter when roads are frozen and to count populations that typically migrate out of their communities in the spring.
Please note, while we welcome applications from all regions at this time, initial efforts will focus on hiring from the list of northern and remote communities below.

To be considered for a job, you must:

- have reached the age of majority in your current province or territory of residence
- Provinces where the age of majority is 18: Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan.
- Provinces and territories where the age of majority is 19: British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, and Yukon.

What if I don't live in one of the listed northern or remote communities, can I still apply?
Yes, applicants from outside the list of communities included in early recruitment are still welcome to apply on this page. If you apply and are not located in a select community, your application will be reviewed at a later time.
In some cases, applicants may be considered for other census positions, depending on operational needs and proximity to certain areas. If selected, your pay rate will be based on your area of residence. Please note that broad hiring across Canada begins on January 6, 2026. To learn more, visit Census jobs across Canada.
